By Deana Norton

There are very many reasons why you should fly to the Bahamas. Whether on a business trip or touring, you should ensure that you visit the beautiful Islands. All islands in the Bahamas have a variety of beautiful places that you can see, both natural and man-made. Exploring expeditions in Bahamas are both enlightening and exciting. If you need airport transportation Nassau Bahamas services, there are plenty of single engine crafts that are affordable.

While flying to the Bahamas, you will have to meet some compulsory requirements. You will begin by filing an eAPIS manifest and a US International Flight Plan. When traveling, ensure that you have your passport as you check in at the Port Of Entry to the Bahamas. While flying to Nassau, documents such as voters registration and driving permit are not important.

When returning to the US, you will require an International Flight Plan, which should be filed at the most convenient Airport of Entry. The Plan should also be inclusive of the word ADCUS in the statements section. The flight plan is an important document, and it will be required during all operations in Nassau and Freeport. This is because the traffic is dense, and the FSS facilities are located at Freeport and Nassau.

In case you are in a rush, you can land on an uncontrolled airport at the Bahamas. This will not need you to possess a flight plan. Nevertheless, you should have in mind that a flight plan is of essence more so when traveling over open marine.

The radio channel used by the Freeport FSS is 122.3.It has an operational radius of 50NM and the radio channel used is 126.0. The airports that are located remotely also have a remote channel 124.2. Most of the remote airports are located near Governors harbor, Exuma, Inagua, Treasure Cay, Marsh Harbour, Georgetown and Eleuthera.

The Nassau radio listens to a total of six remote receivers at the same time. Therefore, be patient if you need to alert an airport that you want to land, and you cannot hear anything from the other end. However, you will need to always confirm your location and identity so that it is known which remote airport is active. It is advisable to use 1000MSL to communicate at an altitude of 80 feet from the ground to reach the nearest remote site.

If you are not flying yourself, your pilot should cancel the flight plan after it is initiated. After communication is lost, you should listen if there is another pilot using the same frequency and communicate that you need a dispatch. In case all your efforts to communicate hit the wall, fly up to the highest possible altitude and try communicating again.

You should try and reverse the course to restore communication. Alternatively, land at a place where you can get access to HAM radio assistance. For instance, near a ship. Closing the flight plan prevents major consequences such as sending of the rescue team.
